Our Unpopular Opinion About Social Media

There’s a time and place for stats, analytics, and insights — but it's not our main focus around here.

We know, we know…

It’s a little counter cultural to make a statement like that in today’s world. But hear us out for a minute! We think social media is a huge tool for both entrepreneurs and businesses, and that it should be utilized to its fullest.

There’s no denying that platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and Pinterest should be an integral part of any brand’s marketing strategy. If you’re not dedicating time to investing in that strategy in at least one of those platforms, it might be time to reevaluate if you are effectively reaching your target audience. 

All the stats, analytics and insights these platforms provide brands and businesses owners are amazing at helping you evaluate who has eyes on your content, what type of content resonates most with your audience, and what kind of content they’d rather breeze past. This is incredibly helpful information when trying to grow your platform or increase your engagement rate. That being said, the stats and numbers really aren’t our main focus.


Here's what we focus on instead:


When it comes to social media, our number one priority around here has been and always will be to share purposeful, quality content. Sometimes we feel like the odd ones out when we say we care less about growing our audience and want to focus more on producing quality work that serves a purpose for our business and existing audience. But when it comes down to it, we know that producing quality work (read: beautiful, swoon-worthy and strategic design) should naturally resonate with people, and when it does they will engage with it!

Yes, were still over here working on providing calls-to-action and trying to navigate the crazy world of algorithms so that new people discover our services — but we’ve made intentional choices in our design studio not to get caught up in the never ending social media game. There’s lots of incredible accounts that can teach you how to get the most likes and followers, but we’re happy to spend our creative energy producing scroll-stopping designs that will get our client’s brands and businesses noticed. When we nail those stand-out designs for our clients and share them on our own feed, we know it’ll naturally cause us to stand-out too. Isn’t that the ultimate win-win?

So, call us crazy if you must. But we’ll be over here honing our craft and focussing on creating quality designs that are sure to stop you mid-scroll. We’ll leave all the liking, saving, pinning, and sharing to you!
